Resumen:
This research is motivated by the increasing use of information and communication technology (ICT) within the teaching-learning process in universities. This study uses the proposed work methodologies and instruments for identification and evaluation; an instrument proposed by the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the European Union was applied to evaluate the digital skills. The results made it possible to identify that there are major deficiencies in the digital skills of the participants, to the point of being placed at the initiation level, especially regarding the protection of personal data and digital identity, and protection of the environment.

Resumen:
The acquisition of new knowledge, by means of teaching programming languages, tools, methodologies, and development processes, is a need in the software industry to retain the experience of the programmer within the organization. This work aims analysing existing research on techniques, tools, approaches and experiences applied to the transmission and acquisition of new knowledge. Additionally, to analyse the learning process within an organizational environment, and how a company captures, maintains and transmits the knowledge. We conducted a survey to identify the software practitioner needs regarding experience and knowledge transfer. Once we could realize there is a challenge to manage the knowledge, a systematic mapping of the literature is carried out. We have considered works published between 2007 and 2019. 51 articles were selected, 71% are studies in industry, 29% are focused on university education. Our findings reveal the great challenge involved in studying the acquisition and exchange of new knowledge. Additionally, we were supported with an initial survey to validate results. Much of the literature focuses on analysing academic processes, more research is needed on the process of learning new knowledge with respect to programming languages, tools, methodologies, cycles and development processes in the software industry.

Many studies are related to MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) in the scientific literature. However, there are hardly any global approaches to experiences extended over time that provide a broader picture of the functioning of these initiatives, especially lacking large-scale analysis and outside the Anglo-Saxon sphere. This case study analyses the profiles, preferences, and satisfaction data of over 2.7 million unique users of the MOOCs that the Universitat Politècnica de València has been offering since 2013 to a mainly Spanish-speaking public. This descriptive analysis uses the analytics provided by the platforms used and a satisfaction survey with more than 77,000 responses. The results reveal similar demographics to those reported in other studies, a stagnation in enrolment in recent years, and the measures adopted by edX to achieve sustainability have reduced the number of successful candidates. The most requested subjects are languages and courses on software office tools. In addition, students confirm their satisfaction with the initiative (3.92/5 in terms of expectations met), courses and platforms, as well as the fact that they spend an average of 3 hours a week following the courses, that they consider the duration of the teaching videos to be between 3 and 10 minutes and that they consider the options for resolving doubts offered by UPV to be sufficient.

This paper presents a cooperative project developed by two technical vocational schools. The project consists of the design and implementation of a prototype of an IP Public Address, closed circuit TV (CCTV) and access control system that uses the “Raspberry Pi” single-board computer as control system and non-electronic parts made with a 3D printer. The aim of the project is training students in maintenance of Voice over IP, audio and video. The project has been funded by the regional government Xunta de Galicia.

Resumen:
Nowadays, Senile Dementia is one of the most recurrent ailments related to aging as brain functions begin to deteriorate, making the elderly more dependent on others to take care of them. Using ecosystems with mixed reality allows them to have an easier way to their activities, have some independence, improve their quality of life and do exercise routines by themselves with the help of the Internet for remote control monitoring. This work proposes an architectural model for a mixed reality ecosystem to support older adults’ daily activities. The work advocates the design of the ecosystem components, which are used in two scenarios for the rehabilitation of the visuo-constructive ability of patients, making a more adequate and detailed combination and implementation of connectivity, software and peripherals.

In this work, we estimate the impact over five semesters of a methodology based on Just in Time Teaching in Physics for Engineering laboratory courses. The research question explored here is as follows: what is the impact of Just in Time Teaching (JiTT) implementation on student academic achievements as measured by the grades obtained by engineering students in physics laboratories? We examined the research question by statistical analysis of the grades obtained by students before and after the implementation of the JiTT strategy. The statistical analysis showed an increase in the percentage of students with grades over 4.0/5.0 upon the implementation of this strategy. A significant difference between the grades obtained before and after implementation in the Physics I and Physics II laboratories was confirmed by ANOVA (p < 0.005); in contrast, in Physics III laboratories, we observed similar grades before and after the implementation. We conclude that the implementation of JiTT improves the grade distribution over higher values, suggesting that students have better learning outcomes; more efforts are needed in Physics III laboratories to achieve a similar (or greater) increase in grades than in Physics I and II.
