Revista Iberoamericana de Tecnologías del Aprendizaje

IEEE-RITA

IEEE-RITA is a publication of the IEEE Education Society (IEEE EdSoc), focused on the Ibero-American community, not only in the geographical sense, but also on all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking researchers from around the world.

IEEE-RITA publishes articles in English through IEEE Xplore (accessible to IEEE Xplore subscribers) and a version of it, either in Spanish or Portuguese, freely accessible to everyone through VAEP-RITA.

Submission of papers

Original articles should be submitted in Spanish or Portuguese. At the end of the evaluation process, every article will have its English version, which will be published in IEEE Xplore, and its Spanish or Portuguese version, which will be freely accessible to the authors.

In the case of exceeding 10 pages, the payment of US$ 60 will be required for each extra page up to a maximum of 16 pages.

The submission of articles will be made through the IEEE Author portal.

Original articles

The manuscript must be submitted, including a cover letter stating that it is an original manuscript, not previously published and written in Spanish or Portuguese (indicating the language in question). The cover letter should also include a list of recommended reviewers (3) with their contact information and, if any, a list of reviewers to whom it is opposed. The cover letter should also indicate whether the article is being submitted to a monograph.

The review process to be followed once the manuscript is received is as follows:

– It is checked for originality through plagiarism and self-plagiarism tools. If a percentage greater than or equal to 25% is detected, it will be directly rejected. The appropriate measures can be adopted according to the rules of the IEEE Manual Ops.

– The manuscript is then technically reviewed in the submitted language by at least three reviewers under the direction of an associate editor.

– Once the manuscript is accepted, the article will be provisionally published in the Institutional Repository of the University of La Laguna (RIULL). The authors must submit the English version of the article, which will also be checked by the plagiarism and self-plagiarism tools. The detection of a percentage of at least 25% will imply the rejection of the article and the measures that can be adopted according to the rules of the IEEE Manual Ops. The review of this English version will be performed by an associate editor, who reviewed the original version in Spanish or Portuguese to verify that this English version corresponds to the one accepted in its original version and by a reviewer of the English language.

Extended articles

IEEE RITA admits the submission of extended versions of scientific conferences. These manuscripts must be submitted in the same language in which the paper was published at the conference (Spanish, Portuguese, or English) and have a significant extension of the paper of at least 30%.

The manuscript should be sent indicating in the cover letter that it is an extended manuscript of a conference, indicating the name of the conference and that it is written in Spanish, Portuguese, or English (indicating the language in question).

The review process is similar to that followed for original manuscripts in Spanish or Portuguese, except for the plagiarism and self-plagiarism check, which is allowed to have a percentage of self-plagiarism greater than 25% and always compatible with the new material submitted. If these conditions are not met, the article will be rejected.

In addition to all these aspects, the IEEE rules for authors of its publications, which can be consulted in Manual Ops and Originality, will always be applicable.
